A natural home that feels the warmth of wood.

Today we visited “Ibuki no ie,” located a 9-minute walk from Oyama Station in Itabashi Ward.

It’s a share house set within a quiet residential neighborhood. It’s three stops by train to Ikebukuro. Even by bicycle—or while strolling and exploring a new area—you can reach Ikebukuro in about 15 minutes!

A new scent, pure white walls, floors and furniture brimming with the warmth of wood, a dining room filled with light, and hydroponics. It’s a share house overflowing with a natural vibe.

Saori: “A deep shoe rack. Let’s store things well and fit a lot in!”
Kumiko: “If we use storage goods to take advantage of the depth and height, it looks like we can put a lot of shoes, right!”

Saori: “Open the door and there’s a staircase with a stylish carpet♪ The rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors.”
Kumiko: “Bright white walls and a stylish carpet♪ It’s nice that it also softens the sound of footsteps.”

Saori: “The living room bathed in light is everyone’s place to relax. The bamboo flooring with a base of white × wood is lovely♪”
Kumiko: “So bright! There are so many windows, and it’s a calming space. You can really unwind.”

Saori: “The orange and green benches are stylish too♪”
Kumiko: “Because the colors are soft, they’re perfect for the dining area. Looks like a nice spot to read and relax.”

Saori: “They give new housemates vegetable seeds as a gift! I’ve got mustard. What about you, Kumi-chan?!”
Kumiko: “Mine is, hmm… you’ll have to wait and see after I plant it! (laughs) In keeping with the share house concept ‘Ibuki’ (new growth), you get a present♪ This storage is cute too!”

Saori: “This is the trendy LED hydroponics. When it grows big, let’s have a harvest festival & party together!”
Kumiko: “It’s my first time seeing it! Some sprouts are tiny, some are growing—so cute★ If everyone grows it together, eating it will be even more fun!”

Saori: “With both the table and flooring in bright tones, the living room has a unified look. It feels really spacious!”
Kumiko: “It really is bright♪ I do want to live in a clean home!”

Saori: “Since it’s a square kitchen, cooking together looks like it’ll be fun. Today’s lunch will be pasta, decided♪”
Kumiko: “Pasta—! What should I prepare? It’s like a cooking class♪ When girls cook together, both the cooking and the talk will get glamorous♪”

Saori: “Pots and dishes are down below. It’s convenient because you can grab them right away!”
Kumiko: “Yeah, convenient♪ There’s plenty of storage under the kitchen, so you can get to what you want to use right away!”

Saori: “Microwave, rice cooker, and cute tableware are all here! All the furniture and dishes are brand new! Love it♪”
Kumiko: “For people living alone for the first time, you can use dishes immediately; and for those who’ve lived alone before, you get to use new, cute dishes without having to buy them!”

Saori: “Thanks to the big window next to the bed, the room gets loads of sunlight. Looks like I’ll be able to wake up properly in the morning. Oh right, Kumi-chan, I found a funny article! Look—!!”
Kumiko: “What is it? Wow, those are lovely pieces of furniture. They’d suit this room! Rooms that let the light in boost your luck too (laughs).”

Kumiko: “It really is about this storage, isn’t it? Excellent for effective use◎”
Saori: “Yep, under-bed storage is important, of course!”

Saori: “Kumi-chan! The bed seems to be made in Italy!! Will I sleep soundly, I wonder?”
Kumiko: “Wao—You can feel like a celeb! I’m sure you’ll sleep soundly. Might even oversleep (laughs).”

Saori: “Oh! A haco-type closet. Having a closet is convenient after all. It keeps dust off clothes, and it’s something girls who love clothes want.”
Kumiko: “Doors make it convenient too. It keeps the room looking neat, and it’s essential for protecting precious clothes.”

Saori: “White walls & flooring with a red chair and stylish shelves. The lighting is lovely too, and it makes you want to get picky about room-making! Ah! I spot some air plants on the wall!!”
Kumiko: “Above Saori-chan! Yes. It might be a little hard to see in the photo, but air plants! Decorative plants in a room are soothing♪”

Saori: “This share house even has rooms with a washbasin, right? If there’s a washbasin in your room, you’ll remove your makeup every day without getting lazy, right?!”
Kumiko: “Ahhhh… Exactly. Even though I know I shouldn’t just go to sleep like this, it’s a hassle—but I’ll still take my makeup off… (tears). If it’s in the room, I can push myself to do it!”

Saori: “I want to fill the room’s shelves with my favorite plants and flowers♪”
Kumiko: “Yes, lovely♪ I want to put my favorite books and CDs there too—use it as both storage and interior decor.”

Saori: “Is this the biggest room? By the way, it’s about 15 minutes by bicycle to Ikebukuro from here! Handy for cycling over to shop!”
Kumiko: “It’s spacious, and because it’s such a bright room, it puts me in high spirits^^ Cycling will make me giddy too♪”

Saori: “This hallway has taste, doesn’t it? Even if you come home tipsy, there’s a handrail, so it’s fine (laughs)!?”
Kumiko: “Exactly! The carpet is cute and the wall patterns are cute! Even if you’re tipsy, there’s a handrail and it’s spacious, so you’ll be fine (laughs).”

Saori: “There are two sinks, so even on a busy morning you can relax! Hm!? What’s wrong!? Kumi-chan!!”
Kumiko: “Wawawawawa—Getting a massage (laughs). Because the mirror is long, it’s easy to see♪”

Saori: “Ta-da!! There are air plants here too!”
Kumiko: “They’re in the rooms and all over the shared spaces! There might even be hidden air plants!?”

Saori: “In single-person homes you often get unit baths, but Ibuki no ie has a proper bathtub where you can relax and wash away the day’s fatigue♪”
Kumiko: “It’s compact, but soaking in the tub lets you unwind. Let’s wash away the day’s fatigue.”

Saori: “There are two washing machines. Storage shelves are perfect too! I’m going to place my favorite fabric softener there♪”
Kumiko: “I want to be wrapped in the scent of softener♪ Sometimes we could even trade softeners with each other! Since the shelves are wide, you can put everything from bath goods to laundry goods there.”

Saori: “Besides the bath, there are also shower rooms! Convenient for mornings when you want to finish up quickly!”
Kumiko: “You can switch depending on your mood. There are two shower rooms!”

Saori: “There’s plenty of storage space along the stairs as well. You can never have too much storage! What should we put there?”
Kumiko: “Big shelves! Who knew there’d be storage in a place like this! What should I put? Hmm—I’ll think about it a bit (laughs).”

Saori: “Two chairs next to the door that leads to the rooftop. Nobody comes here! We can even have secret talks here♪ It kind of reminds me of my school days♪”
Kumiko: “The landing space is a must-have place for girls (laughs). One of the good things about a share house is that you can make friends you can talk about anything with.”

Saori: “Woooow! A huge rooftop deck! Feels amazing!! On days off I want to have brunch out here! I also want to try a home garden!”
Kumiko: “The sense of openness is irresistible!!! Amazing—! Feels so good! Let’s do a home garden, and BBQ in the summer★”

Kumiko: “Security is solid too!”
Saori: “A women-only share house. Safety first! Security is firmly handled by ALSOK!”

Saori: “Lately, lots of people around me have started growing their own vegetables. I’m curious about hydroponics too!”
Kumiko: “Having nature nearby calms the mind. I want to do hydroponics too!”
