When a lovely woman from Taiwan took part in my interview. She overcame parent’s opposition for making a dream come true in Japan. If you are not able to decide to come to Japan, please read the followings to cheer up yourself.
Sari “Hello, I’m Sari. It’s very nice to see you today.”
Wang “Nice to meet you too. I’m Wang.”
Sari “Could you introduce lit bit of yourself, please?”
Wang “Ok. I’m from Taiwan. I came to Japan the last September with working holiday visa. I have been working at an accessary shop in Ginza now.”
Sari “Thank you, Ms. Wang. Why did you decide to live in Japan?”
Wang “I’m interested in Japanese cultures, especially music bands. I wanted to take part in more events. As preparations, I studied Japanese by myself and got N2 in Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.”
Sari “You like Japanese music band! Could you actually take part in some events?”
Wang “Yes, I could join many events and concerts last year. It was amazing.”
Sari “Why did you decide to live in a shared house in Japan?”
Wang “Well, I didn’t want to buy furniture because I’ve only got 2 years-visa. In this point, shared houses have all the set of furniture and I don’t need to spend money to it. Also I heard that there were some Taiwanese in this shared house. It is good for me so that I can interact with them and feel relieved.”
Sari “I see. What was the point when you choose the house?”
Wang “The first one is the size of the room. My room is 6,5 tatami mats and it is bigger than rooms in other shared houses. Second is the house for women-only. My parents cared about it and I chose the house with this condition.”
Sari “How do you like Japan so far?”
Wang “I love! I like Japanese fashion, food, and seasons. There are many kinds of styles and I think every stile is nice. I like the cute clothes the most.”
Sari “ I see. There are many shopping spot in Japan, right?”
Wang “Absolutely. I like Shinjyuku and Ikebukuro. There are many adorable shops that make me so excited.”
Sari “What Japanese foods do you like most?”
Wang “Oh, I can’t choose one though, I like Tonkatsu, Gyukatsu and Ramen. Japan has so many delicious foods and they are cheap enough. I want to recommend people who will come to Japan “Motomura”, a Japanese beef cutlet restaurant. ”
Sari “How is your part time job going?”
Wang “Good. I’m working at Ginza where a lot of Chinese visit and I can help them in Chinese. Speaking polite Japanese is still difficult, but it’s fine because Japanese are kind and coworkers are supportive.
Sari “Do you have specific memories happened in the workplace?
Wang “Well, a Japanese lady kindly talked to me in Chinese. I felt happy because it was when I started the job and I didn’t get used to the workplace and Japanese.”
Sari “What are the future plans?
Wang “I hope I can get a job related to translation and get a working visa before expiring my visa. I’m enjoying my part time job now but the reason why I came here is to be a translator. I really want to come true because I came to Japan in spite of my parent’s opposition.
Sari “Oh, Did your parent oppose to it?”
Wang “Yes. They worried about me because it is not so safe to live alone in a foreign country for girls, right?
Sari “I understand.”
Wang “I want to tell them that I’m doing well and get a dream job some day.”
Ms. Wang came to Japan to making her dream come true. She gains experience in the part time job and work hard toward to be a translator. I think it is difficult but important to move forward step by step. I’m looking forward to seeing works she engaged in.
